LOVE PASSED ME BY AS TIME AND SPACE WERE WASHED AWAY BY EMOTION.....

This old COMIC, published in 1950, not only revealed the mores and standards of that time period, but also suggests that the "work" to be done in a heterosexual relationship must be accomplished by the woman, who must continually play against the male ego.....teen girls read these "relationships" comics which gave them advice about handling the other sex from the perspective that most of the work, at that level, was the responsibility of the female, who is relatively content if her man is faithful, brings home the bacon and provides the amenities of middle class Life....I thought of the copper penny side of Revolutionary Road......Boys of the same age were preoccupied with Blackhawk, Superheros like Plastic Man and The Atom, which evolved in the 1950's and continue to be the designated format for the entertainment of pre-teen boys (and very immature older boys, too)........while girls were learning to cope, problem solve and make compromises, boys had only to shoot cap pistols, wear superhero capes and be relatively insensitive to the interests of others......Dig this line, from "I Toyed With Love" from the comic pictured: "Who can measure the hairbreadth line between Love and Hate? Who knows where one leaves off and the other begins? I thought I turned against my sweetheart to protect my younger sister from his past of secrecy and guilt.....but was my true motive wrapped up in a web of jealousy and deceit?" That certainly trumps dialogue between the Joker and Batman, doesn't it........ Men are so unconditioned in matters of the heart..........

CRIMSON PERFUMED VELVET

These georgeous, perfumed roses that grow by the front door are the most wonderful, and they conjure memories of my Grandmother and her friend, Winnette, who were always tending their beautiful roses.....white...yellow, pink and crimson....these flowers came from the bush that was transplanted from my Grandmother's yard.......

ALL IN ONE

I couldn't resist this beautifully designed computer.......one, yes only ONE cable leading to the unit...a small footprint....and lovely to look at, too....webcam and under the screen speakers, to boot! even sparser than the Apple.....
this must be the Zucchini Tondo Di Piacenza, then......

BANANA PANCAKES

made with lemon zest, orange liquor and a few currants......comfort food on an overcast, rainy day.......and, too boot, i can smell, through the bamboo forest, the aroma of cooking bacon from a home on the other side......now to curl up with Bunnie, already deep in slumber, to smell the cool rain and listen to the cardinals chirping over the hanging seed-feeder.....

DUCKS IN A ROW

Humans have a natural propensity, reinforced by societal customs and the need for congruent validation, to structure their thinking in ways that mimic the constructs that they see employed by those around them....."monkey see, monkey do"......among the conservative of humans, this extends to the rejection, even the annihilation of those who do not fall into these molds and even to the restructuring of natural instincts for membership in the hive, passing the detectors engineered by dna and rigid indoctrination to become ones with the great spirit of mediocrity and sameness.........I continually meditate on my uniqueness, but still fall to conformity in unthinking ways.....we are not so unlike other social creatures.... ants, bees, prairie dogs and chimps....i've never felt that i could afford the expense of conformity and have given shape to a rag-tag existence of pretty much my own creation.....or, perhaps i've merely tuned in distant stations to get modelling instuctions or have failed to replicate, successfully, some of the basic structural components of hard-wired genetics........maybe I pissed them down the sink...
