this anectode, one of many that i read as a child....and that instilled values and attitudes that i still hold, is represented here by the splendid illustration of Charles H. Bennett.....c. 1857...and oddly enough, i always think of the artist as having been a relative of Miss Elizabeth Bennett Darcy.....i am, at heart a romantic......preferring Austin to Tolstoy.....
