When I was in elementary school, I walked to Woolworth's...just a few blocks from West Clinton Elementary School, to check out their parakeets....to find a yellow one......and was drawn to this cute little alligator that was the same price as the budgie......'Gate' grew and grew, until he was a bit unmanageable at 18".......what to do? I took Gate to the Big Spring, downtown, and released him 'to the Wild', where, I'm sure, he later gobbled down a swan or duck or goldfish or a few, until The City decided that there were far too many 'abandoned animals' (mainly ex-pet alligators and crocodiles) living in the Big Spring's Lake......chomping the feet and legs from the ducks.......These 'gators' can get really big....big enough to dine on US! Everything's just 'lunch' for big reptiles.......
