This has always been my favorite table "cloth" ... of silk and silver thread...
years ago, a friend knocked over a pillar candle and the cloth was left with
a huge glob of dried wax.....when i attempted to "iron" the wax from the fabric,
an unsightly hole developed in the extremely delicate silk......occassionly, i
take the cloth from its lacquered japanese box and, carefully disguising its
damage with a large vase or bowl, watch the old, grey silver foliage shimmer in the
candlelight........
